Proportions check

The hem hits mid-thigh to just-above-the-knee — measure this with your regular shoes on and a blazer underneath. The shoulders of the overcoat must clear the blazer shoulders completely or the layering stack looks wrong from behind.

Layering notes

The overcoat is the final outer layer. Under it: a blazer, turtleneck, or crewneck sweater at maximum. Three layers (Oxford + blazer + overcoat) is the canonical winter stack and requires buying the coat a full size up from your shirt size.
