Proportions check

The denim jacket cuts at the hip, which means you see the full length of the trouser leg below it. The hem should sit within an inch of the belt loops, no lower. Shoulders should land exactly at the shoulder bone.

Layering notes

A standalone outer layer in spring and early autumn. In winter, layer the denim jacket under a trench or overcoat for an authentic-vintage layered look. Do not layer over a blazer — both have stiff shoulders that conflict.
